Fluoride Filters

Here are my thoughts on fluoride filters.

There are several ways you can remove fluoride from your water at home. One of them is a reverse osmosis filter water. They are usually installed under the sink and they work by forcing water through a membrane that blocks the arrest of fluoride, so that water collected on the other side is free of fluoride and other contaminants.

The second way to remove fluoride from your drinking water using a cartridge of activated alumina. This type of filter fluoridated water is smaller and sits on the counter. It is also much less expensive than reverse osmosis to filter the water.

Why would you want to remove fluoride from your drinking water? If you have children, they may develop fluorosis if they consume too much fluoride while their teeth are developing. Children are at risk for this condition until they are eight years old. Most children have mild cases of fluorosis, which appear as white spots and lines on the teeth that are not too noticeable. Severe cases are less frequent, but such cases, the symptoms of cracked and pitted teeth that are stained brown or black.

Fluoride is also linked to a number of other conditions such as an increased risk of cancer and possibly Alzheimer's disease. Fluoride is actually a pollutant, as created by a product of iron, copper and aluminum. It is even used as rat poison and insecticide. Many believe that there is no clear link between fluoride and dental caries reduction.

Whether you want to drink water with fluoride is a personal decision. But since most municipal water supplies in the United States have fluoride added, if you want, without water to drink, you can use a filter to remove fluoride.

Boiling water will not remove fluoride, it focuses only. Fluoride can not be removed either by distillation. You should also know that fluoride in bottled water, unless the label says it is filtered by reverse osmosis.

Price could be a decisive factor when choosing between the two types of filters fluoride. Water Filters Reverse osmosis is much more expensive than the cartridges of activated alumina. Expect to spend a few hundred dollars for a reverse osmosis system as you can get a cartridge alumina well below $ 100.

Think if you remove other contaminants from your water. The quality of reverse osmosis to remove chlorine and E-coli and many other impurities.
